Abstract

Yoga Sala or yoga studio is an important space in accommodating practical yoga activities, both for individuals and collectively. Space design guidelines have been established in Vaastu shastra and continue to evolve as today's interior comfort standards improve. This qualitative study with analytical descriptive presentation is based on Vaastu shastra design guidelines and modern ergonomics rules to reveal the design of a contemporary yoga studio design. The study results show that the ideal provisions for a yoga studio space regarding the comfort and safety of practitioners have been outlined in Vaastu shastra. However, the constraints of limited land and ideal space provisions can be overcome by following current ergonomic rules or standards, by utilizing developments in space comfort equipment and technology.
